The holy festival of Shani Jayanti is celebrated on the Amavasya of Jyeshtha Krishna Paksha. This is a special festival of Hinduism. Shani Dev is considered the god of justice. Sun son Shani Dev was born on the day of Shani Jayanti.

On the day of Shani Jayanti, Lord Shani is worshiped with complete legislation. It is mandatory to pay special attention while worshiping Shani Dev. It is believed that if Shani Dev gets angry then the peace and happiness of the house is disturbed.
In astrology, Shani dev is considered to be the God of justice. Whatever good or bad deeds a man does in his life, only Shani Dev gives their works results. When a person is affected by Shani's Saadesati or Dhaiya, then at that time he is most affected by Shani dev. To please Shani dev, worship him on Saturdays, offer him jaggery and mustard oil, donate to the poor, worship Lord Hanuman, worship the Peepal tree and do good deeds.
On the day of Shani Jayanti, by donating black cloth or lentils and iron items after worshiping, Shani Dev removes all the troubles. In the worship of Shani Dev, sesame, urad, peanut oil, black pepper, pickle, cloves, black salt etc. should be used.
Lord Shani dev is very much in love with Shyam i.e. black things. In the worship of Shani Dev, black sesame seeds, black gram lentils etc. are offered.
