Basement is considered good for pooja purposes because a basement has the magnetic power of a temple and more spiritual power can be generated by the puja of saints and pandits. So, it is beneficial to perform pooja in basement. Pictures and statues of Gods and Goddesses should be installed in the Northeast part and the Northeast wall of the basement.

There should be plenty of light in the basement and proper arrangement for disposal of water etc. should be made, or it can create problems for the owner. Heavy articles like sofas cupboards, tables, chairs etc. should be placed in the Southwest. The walls, curtains, and sheets etc. should be pale blue or pale pink in colour.
