Hanuman Jayanti

Hanuman Jayanti is celebrated by people every year to observe the birthday of the Hindu Lord Hanuman. According to the Indian Hindi calendar, this festival is celebrated every year on the 15th day of the Shukla Paksha of the month of Chaitra (Chaitra Purnima).In the year 2020 Hanuman Jayanti will be celebrated on Wednesday 08 April.

When and how to celebrate Hanuman Jayanti

Lord Shree Hanuman, a great devotee of Lord Shree Rama, is worshiped by people of Hindu religion all over India because of his deep faith in Lord Shree Rama. On the day of Hanuman Jayanti, all Hanuman temples get very crowded, as people start worshiping them after taking holy bath in the morning. Hanuman Jayanti is celebrated with big enthusiasm and zeal in Hinduism as a significant festival of Hindus. It is a great Hindu festival, which is celebrated in a cultural and customary manner.

People worship Lord Hanuman as a symbol of faith, magic powers, strength and energy. People recite Hanuman Chalisa, as it has the ability to destroy evil forces and comfort the mind. On this day Hanuman devotees go to the temple of Lord Hanuman Ji after bathing early in the morning and offer red sindoor ka chola on the idol of Hanuman Ji, recite Hanuman Chalisa, offering laddus, chanting mantras, Aarti They do many rituals, circumambulation of the temple etc.

As everyone knows, Lord Hanuman was born in the Vanara species with a red-orange body, hence, every Hanuman temple have a red-orange colored Hanuman Ji idol. After the pujan, people apply red vermilion on their forehead as Prasadam and distribute laddus (Holy Prasadam) to the people to fulfill their wishes as asked to Lord Hanuman.

In Maharashtra, it is celebrated on the full moon of Chaitra month according to the Hindu calendar. However, according to other Hindu calendars, it comes on the 14th day in the dark side of Ashwin month. After the puja, Prasad is distributed among the people to get complete blessings.

In Tamilanadu and Kerala, it is celebrated in the month of Margashirsha (between December and January) with the belief that Lord Hanuman was born on this month's Amavasya. In Orissa, it is celebrated on the first day of the month of Vaishakh (April). In Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh, it is celebrated on the 10th day of Vaishakh month, which starts on Chaitra Purnima and ends on the 10th day of Vaishakh month on the Krishna Paksha.

Importance of celebrating Hanuman Jayanti

The ceremony of Hanuman Jayanti indicates a balance in the co-existence of the entire Hanuman species with the wonderful creature of nature. Lord Hanuman was Vanara, and people of Hindu religion worship Hanuman as a divine being. This festival holds great importance for all, although Brahmachari, Pahalwan and Balwan are particularly inspired by this ceremony. Hanuman is known by many names among his devotees; Such as Bajrangbali, Pawansut, Pawan Kumar, Mahavir vikram bajrangi, Marutsut, Sankat Mochan, Anjanisut, Maruti, etc.

Lord Hanuman is considered to be the 11th Rudra avatar of Lord Shiva with qualities of great power, faith, devotion, might, knowledge, great power, courage, intellect, unselfish service-character etc. He devoted his whole life to the devotion of Lord Shri Rama and Mother Sita and never demonstrated his powers without any purpose. Hanuman devotees pray to Hanuman Ji to get the blessings of strength, wisdom and knowledge like him. They are worshiped in many ways by their devotees; Some people meditate by chanting his name for a long time to get strength, fame, success etc. in their life, while some people chant Hanuman Chalisa for all this.
