Durga Pooja

Durga Puja is a religious festival during which the worship of Goddess Durga is performed. It is an important festival in India. People do idol Visarjan and Kanya Poojan (girl Worship) in the last 4 days, which are known as Saptami, Ashtami, Navami and Dashmi. People worship the 10-armed, lion-riding goddess with full enthusiasm, joy and devotion. Durga Puja is an important and important festival of Hindus. This festival is celebrated in honor of Goddess Durga.

Story and legends of Goddess Durga

It is believed that there was once a demon king, Mahishasura, who had already invaded the gods in heaven. He was very powerful, due to which no one could defeat him. An inner power was then created by Brahma, Vishnu and Mahesh (Shiva), called Durga (a ten-handed and amazing female power holding special arms in all hands). He was given the inner power to destroy the demon Mahishasura. Finally, he killed the demon on the 10th day and that day is called as Dussehra or Vijayadashami.

Another legend of Durga Puja is that, in Ramayana, Lord Rama does Chandi Puja to get blessings from Goddess Durga to kill Ravana. Rama killed Ravana on the tenth day of Durga Puja, since that day it is called Vijayadashami. Therefore, Durga Puja always symbolizes the victory of good over evil.

Worship ceremony

Durga Puja is very much done with true mind and devotion. This is done every time in the Shukla Paksha of the month. This festival is celebrated along with the festival of Dussehra. The beginning of the Navratris is considered from the day of Pratipada. Devotees fast for these 10 days and worship Goddess Durga.

Every day the idol of Durga is worshiped with great pomp and show. For this, big stage settings and pandals are put up. A large number of people participate in these events. The pandals of worship is very well decorated. It is illuminated with different colors. They decorate it with great enthusiasm.

Durga Puja is actually done with the desire to gain power so that the evils of the world can be destroyed. Durga Puja is celebrated as the victory of good over evil. Just as Goddess Durga, by gathering the power of all the Gods and Goddesses, killed the evil demon Mahishasura and saved the humanity, likewise we can help humanity by winning our evils. This is the message of Durga Puja. Goddess Durga is considered the incarnation of Shakti. Shakti-puja instills courage in people and they forget each other's mutual feelings and wish each other well.
